The Nodal Axis
The Nodal Axis, also known as The Lunar Nodes or The Moon’s Nodes, is one of the most insightful tools for understanding personal growth and life direction.
The Nodal Axis consists of the North Node and the South Node, two points that sit opposite each other in the birth chart. Though not physical bodies, they carry deep symbolic meaning. The South Node represents what is familiar — our natural tendencies, learned behaviours, and comfort zones. It reflects patterns we often fall back on with ease, but which can sometimes keep us stuck.
Across from it, the North Node points toward growth. It represents the qualities, experiences, and directions that challenge us to evolve. This energy can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable, yet it is where meaningful development and fulfillment are found.

The power of the Nodal Axis lies in the balance between these two points. It’s not about rejecting the South Node, but about using its strengths while consciously moving toward the North Node. This creates a dynamic path of integration and transformation, once symbolized by the mythical “ouroboros”.
In this talk, we’ll explore how the Nodal Axis shows up in the birth chart through signs and houses, revealing key life themes and patterns. We’ll discuss what it means when a planet aspects the Nodal Axis, especially by conjunction or square. We’ll also touch on the continued movement of the nodes and how their cycles mark key times of growth in a person’s life.
Whether you’re new to astrology or deepening your knowledge, the Nodal Axis offers a powerful lens for understanding where you’ve been… and where you’re meant to grow.
